The Bucephalandras are epiphytic plants endemic to the island of Borneo. They are rare aquatic plants with a unique appearance. In general, Bucephalandras sound slow growing and come in many different varieties and colors. A very tolerant aquarium plant that grows well with a wide range of water values.
Being bucephalandra is relatively new to the hobby, but growing in popularity. So it is still a bit difficult to find some species. Their low requirements make them a good choice for any planted aquarium or shrimp.
It can be kept both above and below water, making it an excellent choice for aquariums, paludarios and terrariums alike.
Bucephalandras develops best on hard surfaces, attached to different types of wood or stone. It is not used to being planted in fine media such as sand.
To ensure good coloration, medium lighting is recommended and adding nutrients to the water column can be beneficial. Small amounts of CO2 and fertilizers can ensure that the plant shows beautiful colors.
