What do you need aquarium fertiliser for?

• Do their leaves have holes in them or yellow patches? Then you are dealing with a manganese deficiency.
• Are the edges and points of young leaves turning yellow? Then it's likely that you have a potassium shortage.
• You can diagnose a nitrogen deficiency when plants have light green upper leaves and yellow lower ones.
• Do your plants' leaves suddenly darken and then fall off? You are dealing with a phosphate deficiency.
• Are your young leaves yellow with green veins while your mature leaves are fully green? Then they need more iron.

It is always important to adapt the fertilisation of your aquarium to the way your plants look. A nutrient that is more or less indispensable to any healthy aquarium is potassium nitrate. This is also known as KNO3.

Dosing aquarium fertiliser

The dosing of nutrients like potassium nitrate (KNO3) is dependent on your aquarium. We always go for three types of dosing:

• Lean dosing
• Medium dosing
• Heavy dosing

Lean dosing is suitable for ADA Nature aquarium scapes. The likelihood of algae is small if your substrate is rich. With Lean dosing, you'll be providing potassium nitrate (KNO3) in any event. A specific quantity of aquarium fertiliser is used to achieve the effect you looking for.

With Medium dosing, the advantages of both Lean and Heavy dosing are combined. With this dosing, there is no surplus. And no shortage either. It goes without saying that Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) is part of this type of aquarium fertiliser too.

Finally, Heavy dosing This type of aquarium fertilisation aims to provide large surpluses. So it's more or less impossible for there to be deficiencies. It's ideal for the quick growth of aquarium plants. Growers also use this type of fertiliser widely.
